24th March, 2017 Phillauri releases and today is 24th April. Entire one month of Phillauri. So saying that I am reviewing this movie now sounds too late. So let's say this is not a review because it is not. Neither am I some critic to review movie
But let's talk about two things about the film. First is Anushka Sharma the producer and secondly why is Phillauri a perfect try. First of all backing a project like 2015 crime-thriller NH10 and now Phillauri already tells us how confident Anushka is. Both the movies done by clean slate films are totally different from each other but they speak volume about the society. Where NH10 talked about the honor killing in Haryana and also there was a glimpse of male dominating society (aab gurgaon badta hua bacha h toh gun mujhe hi rakhni padegi na) and now Phillauri which talks about some superstitious rituals from early days Thou Phillauri is a light movie, with comedy. Kids are loving the bhootni, and entire family can enjoy the movie sitting together. But the concept is not that mainstream that every producer will be ready to back it. Coming to the second point. Phillauri is the best try in showing how the time has changed and with the going time how people adapt to changes. The two stories run parallel to each other that many times we can connect to all the four characters. The difference between the time is well shown. How the movie is connected to one of the historic event of India, how singing was seeing as something low during that time and how few superstitious rituals are present till now. Phillauri is the best try from a second time producer and a first time director. A brother was ready to get his beloved sister married to literally anyone just for the sake of society. A heartbroken Shashi who could not take the risk of telling the society of the child takes the dangerous step of killing herself. Confused kanan who later on solves the mystery behind the death, passionately in love with kanan is the girl Anu who understands shashi and then the souls themselves. Diljit who was looking like the villain in shashi’s love story turned out to be the the most pity character of the movie. Phillauri shows the difference between almost what seems like two era's very well. Shashi represents all those women of that times you going through hardships were way more than what they were used like. It is two ghosts who in this tech savvy world can bring tears in your eyes. AND SHOUTOUT TO THE NEW RAPPER IN TOWN ANUSHKA SHARMA <3 TODAY IS 1 MONTH OF PHILLAURI AND HERE’S TO ALL THOSE MOVIES CLEAN SLATES WILL BE BACKING!!!
